Description
Pen y Fan mountain Brecon Beacons from the Upper Neuadd reservoir
The Upper Neuadd is one of the Brecon Beacons quiet gems. A Victorian waterfall that was built at the turn of the last century. It is fed by the streams that run down from the Brecon Beacons range. The Upper Neuadd is famed for it’s iconic views across to Pen Y Fan. Previously, you could watch many a reflection form on the still waters of the reservoir. Sadly it is currently drained. The secret of the Upper Neuadd is a stream that meanders it’s way down from the mountain tops. Red sandstone has been eroded and formed beautiful detailed waterfalls. During cold winters they have been known to freeze up, creating ice water temples, an amazing sight.
