Newport, Parrog, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Nestled on the north coast of Pembrokeshire, Newport is one of those rare places that feels both timeless and quietly alive. Overlooking the gentle curve of Newport Bay, the town is framed by the rugged beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, where sea cliffs, sandy beaches, and winding coastal paths create a landscape that shifts with every tide and season.

At the heart of Newport lies the River Nevern estuary. A peaceful stretch of water that draws birdlife and provides ever-changing reflections of the surrounding hills. Just beyond, the iconic silhouette of Carn Ingli. The Nevern flows into the sea at Newport, just past Newport boat club, In all my years, I think its one of my favourite locations to take a landscape photograph at sunset.

On this evening last week, the sundown was spectacular, a golden glow lit up the sky. Orange hues spread across the sand and sea, a glorious evening. What made this even more special was the unusual event of the wind blowing the dry sand across the beach. Almost creating a new sand sea. A unique moment.

Newport itself is a charming blend of independent shops, galleries, and welcoming pubs, all woven into a close-knit community that embraces both locals and visitors alike. It’s a place where mornings might begin with a walk along Parrog beach, watching fishing boats bob in the harbour, and end with a sunset that seems to set the entire bay aglow.

Whether you’re drawn by the promise of coastal walks, wildlife spotting, or simply a slower pace of life, Newport delivers something quietly special. It’s not just a destination, but a feeling—one of space, serenity, and connection to the natural world that lingers long after you’ve left.
