Astronomy, Telescopes and astro photography workshop
Are you interested in Telescopes, Astronomy or photography? If so, this is the workshop for you. Huw James (An adventure scientist) will talk you through the basics of Telescopes, the night sky (What’s out there, how to recognise constellations and dark skies navigation) I will then follow on and provide some straight forward and practical tips for taking photographs at night.
The Brecon Beacons National Park, is one of only seven dark skies reserves in the world. So the chance to photograph at night and to understand exactly what you’re looking at and most importantly how to find it is a pretty unique workshop.
We will talk through constellations, deep sky objects, planets, the moon, demonstrate how to use a Telescope and of course tackle the tricky subject of photographing at night.
Date – New dates to be announced very soon
Duration – The workshop will run from 18.30Pm until 10.30PM (the sun sets at 19:22) although the end time is fixed, I’m sure some may want to spend a little extra time, which we may be able to accommodate. If you have Telescopes, please bring them with you, cameras and a tripod are essential for any photography tuition you may receive.
Price – £65 per person and restricted to a group size of 20. This also includes a light snack and coffee.
Knowledge needed – You will need to know the very basic settings on your camera, exposure, shutter speed etc, a full questionnaire will be sent to all participants on sign-up for the workshop.
Fitness – There may be a little amount of walking on location at the mountain centre but nothing at all strenuous.
I am a Brecon Beacons National Park and Dark Skies ambassador. Between Huw and myself their is a vast array of Brecon Beacons knowledge from photography through astronomy, walking and even ice climbing.
